FAQ
What is emu oil?
Emu oil is a natural oil rendered from the fat of the emu, a large flightless bird native to Australia. It has been used for centuries in Indigenous Australian skincare and healing traditions. The oil is naturally rich in essential fatty acids - including Omega 3, 6, and 9 which is what gives it its soothing and moisturising reputation.
What is emu oil used for?
Most customers use it for:
- Skin: dryness, scars, and general moisturising
- Hair and scalp: dry or flaky scalp, brittle hair
- Nails and cuticles: strengthening and conditioning
It's a versatile all-over oil rather than a single-purpose product.
How do I apply it?
Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin and massage gently until absorbed. A little goes a long way, emu oil is highly concentrated. Use 1-2 times daily, or as needed. For scalp or hair use, work a few drops into the roots or ends and leave in (or wash out after 30 minutes if preferred).
Is it safe for all skin types?
Emu oil is generally well tolerated and is considered non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Is emu oil vegan?
Emu oil is an animal-derived product, so it is not vegan.
How is your emu oil refined?
Our oil is filtered to remove impurities, then fully rendered at 60 degrees for five minutes preserving the natural fatty acid profile. The result is a clean, golden oil with a very mild scent.
Does emu oil have a smell?
Properly refined emu oil has little to no scent. You may notice a faint, natural earthy aroma when first applied, which fades quickly as the oil absorbs.
How should I store my emu oil?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration is optional and can extend shelf life, but it's not required. The oil may thicken or turn cloudy when cold - this is normal and reverses at room temperature.
What is the shelf life?
Unopened, emu oil typically lasts 3 years from the manufacture date. Once opened, use within 12 months for best quality. Each bottle is stamped with a batch and expiry date.
Is it safe for pets?
Many customers use emu oil on dogs and horses for dry skin and minor irritations. Ensure that you consult your vet before use, as we can not provide veterinarian advice.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes - emu oil is lightweight and absorbs well, making it suitable as a facial moisturiser or serum. Apply 2–3 drops to damp skin, morning or night.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship within Australia and to selected international destinations. Shipping rates and delivery times are calculated at checkout based on your location.
What is your return policy?
If your order arrives damaged please contact us within 14 days of delivery and we'll arrange a replacement. Due to the nature of the product, we're unable to accept returns for change-of-mind reasons.
