Our Emu Oil Story
In 2013, my husband and I were looking at several business opportunities, when we discovered “Talyala Emu Farm” for sale. I’d never heard of Emu Oil before then, but we went to look at the farm where the business was operating at the time to see exactly what was on offer.
After our first visit to the farm, we came away with some product samples. I bathed my daughter (who was 1 year old at the time) with emu oil that night. Her skin (normally rough and dry) was so soft and smooth, I was amazed. Next we tried it on our then 5 year old son. He has food allergies and is prone to very dry skin, especially on his hands, knees, lower legs, elbows and forearms.
Within days we saw an amazing improvement in his skin, and I continued to use the Emu Oil as a daily moisturiser, in the bath, as a body lotion for the whole family, as well as using the facial moisturiser for myself.
One night while we were bathing the kids and getting them ready for bed, I remarked to my husband that we needed to order some more Emu Oil, as we had nearly run out, and it was the best thing I had ever used on their skin. He asked me “Why don’t we buy the business?”
We took over the retail side of “Talyala Emu Farm” in February 2014, and haven’t looked back. To us, Emu Oil is our "go to" for all minor scrapes, scratches, insect bites or skin irritations. We think it really is liquid gold.
Since taking ownership of the business, we have prided ourselves on developing a range of high quality emu oil products. Our product range includes Emu Oil Shampoo, Conditioner, Massage Oil, Lip Balm, Emu Oil Sports Rub, Emu Oil Moisturiser, and Emu Oil Soaps. Our products are free from SLS, Parabens, Petrochemicals, Ethanol Alchohols, Glycol and Silicons.
All our products are made with natural ingredients that enhance and complement the excellent anti-inflammatory and moisturising abilities that Emu Oil is so well known for.
We source our pure oil from a range of independent emu farmers from regional Victoria & New South Wales. Emus are a native animal so don't need much maintenance. They roam in large fields or pastures, often left 'bushy' as well as some clear space to mimic the wild habitat. The emus are free range and are able to wander the large paddocks as they please. Their diet usually consists of barley, lupins, wheat as well as all sorts of plants, fruit & insects which they find as if they were in the wild.
Thanks for reading my story,
